Traditional Sunday roast
A traditional British Sunday roast packed with bold characteristics and rich tones. Choose from our famous Beef Wellington or succulent Kentish chicken. Paired beautifully with a medley of seasonal vegetables, golden roast potatoes and silky herb jus. We also serve a fish and vegetarian dish of the day for those looking to experience our roast with a twist.
The origins of the Beef Wellington
A guest favourite, our signature Beef Wellington is a dish steeped in history. The most popular theory traces its origins to Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington, who famously defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. It is believed that the dish was named in his honour, possibly because its shape resembles the polished military boots he wore in battle, known as ‘Wellingtons’.
Did you know? Apsley House, also known as ‘Number 1, London’ and the distinguished townhouse of the Duke of Wellington, is located at Hyde Park Corner, just a few steps from our hotel.
